Welcome to Natya Mela - 2008

(4th Year)

We are pleased to announce Natya Mela - 2008, a one day Bengali Drama Festival on 7th June, 2008. This is the fourth Natya Mela. It is not a trivial task to organize a drama festival targeted only to Bengali speaking populace for the four consecutive years. It has been possible only because all of your support and enthusiasm.

Tickets are now available. Tickets are priced at:

  • Patron: $25 (advance booking), $30(at gate)
  • Adults: $15 (advance booking), $20 (at gate)
  • Children (6- 12) years: $10 (advance booking), $15 (at gate)

    Seats are numbered. Please book in advance to take advantage of discounted price and better seat. Tickets are available through any Sanskriti or BINA members. However, you can ask your ticket related question to:

    Like past years, Natya Mela is committed to deliver a wholesome experience for the connoisseurs of drama.Joint Committee for the Natya Mela - 2008 is working very hard for that. Several measures have been taken that, we are sure, will prove to be beneficial for all - our esteemed viewers, the participating teams, the community, and the Natya Mela platform at large.


    Important Note ( required by Amador Theater)
  • Tripod can not be placed in the aisle. You are required to hold the camera in your hand. If you need to use tripod, you have to place it at the back of the auditorium.

  • Some of the plays will use Strobe Lights. If you are epileptic and have known issues with stroboscopic light, you may not watch that play.

  • There are multiple exits in the auditorium for the audience to use during emergency.

  • Natya Mela provides excellent opportunity for advertisement. For Stall/Booth/Advertisements, please contact Soumen Chatterjee(408-219-6125) and Maruf Khan(408-821-5391).

    Highlights

  • A slot has been introduced for out-of-state team. 'Ethnomedia', New Jersey will perform this year.
  • Because of growing demand, the children's slot has been distributed between two children's group - one from Bangladesh community and other from West Bengal community.
  • There will be two other adult stage plays as usual.
  • FREE Baby Sitting services will be offered to our viewers so that they can watch the shows worry-free.
  • Channel-I TV Network has agreed to cover the festival.
  • Participant teams will receive a little more attractive token of appreciation than past years.
  • Part of the proceeds from the Natya Mela will be donated to two charitable organizations - SpaandanB and Promise World Wide
